Candela®
GentleYAG Laser Description
The Nd:YAG laser is one of the
most versatile lasers in medicine.
It finds applications in cosmetic
surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry,
medical research and industry.
At the Knight Dermatology Institute,
we use the long-pulse Nd:YAG laser
for three indications: hair
removal, leg
vein and vascular lesion removal,
and skin tightening laser gentle
yag.
The Nd:YAG laser is an infrared
laser that delivers invisible
energy deeply into the skin. By
heating its targets slowly, it
is very effective and safe. This
is especially true for darker
skinned individuals who would
not normally be candidates for
laser procedures.
The Candela® GentleYAG is
an excellent hair removal laser.
By targeting the hair follicle
deeply in the dermis of the skin,
it can create significant reduction
in hair counts. Candela®’s
Dynamic Cooling of the skin further
protects the upper layers of the
skin from unwanted side effects.
Does Candela® GentleYAG
Laser treatments hurt?
Some patients may feel a slight
discomfort during treatment, which
we often describe as a “rubber
band snapping on the skin.”
For many individuals, however, treatment
is almost pain-free. Topical numbing
creams can be used prior to treatment
for sensitive individuals.
How many Candela®
GentleYAG treatments will I need?
Multiple treatments are required
in almost all cases. The exact
number of sessions required will
depend on the site to be treated,
the condition to be treated, the
thickness and quality of the treated
hair, and your natural skin color.
Candela® GentleYAG
laser treatment results
Slight redness and mild swelling
should subside within a few hours
after treatment.
Are there Candela VBeam
side effects for laser hair removal,
leg varicose vein removal or skin
tightening?
Side effects are rare, but include
hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation,
bruising, prolonged redness, and
blistering. Permanent side effects,
such as scarring, are extremely
rare.
